Venue Review – Arneson Acres

Venue grade: A+

We weren’t originally planning to have our reception at Arneson Acres. In fact, we were all set to have it at another location, with a ceremony at AA, until several surprises caused us to change venues.

We are SO glad that we did change!

The venue was VERY inexpensive to rent, and quite lovely. They provide chairs to seat 75, and tables to seat 50+. If you’re planning a small reception, this place is great for it!

We could provide our own beer (3.2 – which we had delivered – see post on Mac’s liquor – great prices, delivery, and fabulous 3.2 selection) and wine, and use any caterer we chose. We rented both the terrace room and gazebo for the full day, so we were able to access them from 8 am to 11 pm.

The terrace room is about 20 x 42 — and offers a kitchen area for the caterer (with a refrigerator and sink — but no stove), coat closet (which we used as something else), as well as mens and women’s bathrooms with 2 stalls each. There’s a lovely patio on the southside of the building separated from the room by a wall of windows — which we used for seating as well.

We were allowed to bring our own/rented tables and chairs, and a tent, as long as the tent was weighted (not staked) and the chairs wouldn’t sink into the ground.

The space was too snug for 130 guests, but many of our guests spent the evening outside, under the tent, so it was pretty perfect.

Pros:
provide your own beer/wine (huge money savings opportunity here!)
kitchen space for caterer
bathrooms
large coat closet that doubles as a bar — perfect location for entering guests to grab a drink
the views! Sweeping, well manicured lawns, trees, gorgeous flower beds
location – in Edina, on 1.3 miles from our home!
hours available
rental fees were ridiculously low

Con:
wish the Terrace room was a bit larger
make sure you rent chair covers — their chairs are orange tweed 🙂

I would host a party there in a heartbeat.
