Make a Decision, Already! Wedding Venue Battle

We are stuck… between a rock and a hard place.

We’ve got 2 potential venues, both have some great benefits, both have some downfalls. Both would be perfect for our wedding, I just can’t decide!

Option 1 is located in Downtown Minneapolis. The venue boasts a view of the rest of downtown from the wall of windows. There’s an attached patio and the menu is totally delicious. All the tables, chairs, linens are included, as is the bartender. We can fit up to 200 guests. The downside is that it is not cheap.

Option 2 is located in Edina, about 1 mile from our new home. The landscaping (acres of well manicured lawns, a gazebo, lots of trees, flower gardens, fountains. It feels secluded and is a great venue for a small reception — bonus, the gazebo is perfect for a ceremony). The rental price is quite low, but the cost of renting tables, chairs, linens, dishes, etc. brings the price close to that of the downtown venue. We can use Sheela of Miel Y Leche for the food, but the kitchen lacks a warming oven, which could be problematic. Also, the space is considerably smaller, meaning we can accommodate about 75 total people.

Sigh — the spaces are so very different, it’s going to be quite tough to choose one over the other.

Luckily, we have until January (per the contracts) to decide, but we have to choose SOON, so I can get those invitations going.

Input, suggestions, tips? Send ’em my way!

The downtown venue sounds great, but my only concern with that would be parking.

The Edina one sounds good too! From what you’ve said, it sound more intimate and that would probably be the best bet if that’s the feel you’re going for! Don’t they have portable warming ovens that you might be able to rent? Just a thought!
