Somber Note: A Great Cause For That Old Wedding Gown August 7, 2009

If your wedding gown was ruined (as mine was, but an awful drycleaner/seamstress combo), or you have an oldie-not-so-goodie that’s been passed down to you, but you don’t know what to do with it, consider donating it to the Mary Madeline Project.

This organization was started out of observed necessity – searching for a dressing gown for a deceased newborn. Not only was it difficult for the organizers to find a gown that would fit, but they realized the stress and trauma associated with the process, for the parents and loved ones of the departed child.

The Mary Madeline Project takes donations of dresses, yarn, and ribbon, as well as monitary donations – and create dressing gowns to make what would be an almost impossible-to-deal-with situation a little better.

It sure beats selling it at a garage sale.
